Even if can muster up the nerve, you realize that so called involute gear cutters cost an arm and a leg. Then you need a set of eight cutters to enable you to cut the entire range of teeth for 12 to Rack. The cost in cutters alone can reach well over $200 before you even begin thinking about arbors to hold them.
It's no wonder many of us will simply go to the nearest gear vendor and put down $50 -$60 for a pair of brass spur gears.
